Greetings to all the Faithful at Holy Myrrhbearers!
Are you a parishioner interested in the choir? You are cordially invited to attend a music seminar I am hosting at Holy Myrrhbearers on Saturday, August 16th from 2-5pm. Its focus will be to give a very basic overview of not only reading sheet music, but also going through the building blocks of music theory. We will be covering things like the musical alphabet, intervals, scales, chords, rhythm, time, and if that wasn't exciting enough, our very own Fr Peter will take a chunk of time covering the Orthodox Tones- where they come from and what their significance is.
Once we cover the basic building blocks of how to read music, the plan is also to do some singing at the end. I know several of you have expressed an interest in singing with the choir, but are intimidated by all those fancy black dots on the page. Our goal will be that, through the knowledge you gain this afternoon, you can feel more comfortable to join in and not feel so intimidated anymore.
